Jamaica flights
This Caribbean oasis, located just south of Cuba and west of Hispaniola, is a major tourist destination. Hundreds of international flights arrive daily into Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston and Donald Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, making flights relatively easy to find. With a number of all-inclusive resorts, you'll have everything you need right at your fingertips.
Attractions:
For those that love the outdoors, head to Negril for some of the best bike tours available in Jamaica. For a round of golf, look no further than Montego Bay, which boasts four championship courses. Organized hiking tours, horseback riding and scuba diving are also offered throughout Jamaica. Diving is sometimes included as part of an all-inclusive package by some of Jamaica's major hotels and most resorts provide snorkeling equipment.
Beaches:
Doctor's Cave Beach located in Montego Bay, Jamaica, this 5-mile sandy beach is perfect for families. Changing rooms are available and there's a beach bar on site.
Seven Mile Beach located in Negril, Jamaica, this beach stretches 7 miles. Be aware of the sectioned off portions where guests are often in the nude.
Treasure Beach located in the South Coast of Jamaica, head to this beach to escape the crowds. Take in the beautiful crashing waves but be cautious of the undertow.
Boston Bay Beach located in Port Antonio, Jamaica, this beach offers surfboard rentals and lessons.
Dining is generally more expensive in Jamaica than in the United States and Canada. This often makes all-inclusive resorts well worth the cost. If you plan on doing a good amount of independent sightseeing around Jamaica, it's recommended to rent a car. Keep in mind that in Jamaica you drive on the left side of the road and gas is measured by the imperial gallon.
Jamaica's warm climate makes it a great destination year round, however there are high and low seasons. In the high season, which runs from mid-December through mid-April, expect to pay the highest prices at hotels. If this is when you plan on visiting Jamaica, it's suggested you make reservations 2 to 3 months in advance. During the off season, roughly mid-April to mid-December, many resorts and hotels offer rates at 20% to 60% lower than their winter rates. Excursions and package-tours are also discounted.
Jamaica flight deals are announced frequently so check Travelzoo often.
