Ft. Lauderdale flights
Ft. Lauderdale is best known for its beaches, bars and nightclubs. Due to its expansive and elaborate canal system that extends over 200 miles, many have coined Ft. Lauderdale the “Venice of America”. Ft. Lauderdale is also a very popular destination for fishing and yachting.
Much of Ft. Lauderdale's economy is reliant on tourism. Ft. Lauderdale Beach (or “The Strip”) is located between Las Olas Blvd north and Sunrise Blvd. Las Olas Blvd., which is Ft. Lauderdale's downtown area, boasts many new hotels, boutiques, art galleries and restaurants.
Other nearby attractions include Florida Everglades Holiday Park for tours of Florida's wetlands (and maybe even an alligator), or Boomers! Rollercoaster Park for some thrilling rides.
If there's a shopper in the group, stop by Sawgrass Mills, one of the world's largest shopping malls. Sports fans can take in a Florida Marlins or Miami Dolphins game at nearby Dolphins Stadium, located just 17 miles southwest of Ft. Lauderdale.
For some local chow, head to Jalisco, a small, family owned Mexican restaurant, or Chima for delicious Brazilian rodizio. For some frozen concoctions and a great ocean view, stop by Fat Tuesday's in Ft. Lauderdale's Beach Place.
With its subtropical climate, Fort Lauderdale is a perfect place to visit year-round. The city sees most of its rain in the summer from May to September, with mainly dry winters and occasional cold fronts.
